The first batch of food products prohibited for import to Russia, disposed on veterinary-sanitary recycling plant in the Kireevsky area of the Tula region, said the Minister of agriculture of the region Dmitry Milyaev journalists on Friday.
"Destroyed the first one and a half tons of meat products. It is not about burning. In the processing of obtained meat and bone meal used in feed production", - he said.
"It was the first shipment of smuggled products. In the Tula area it was taken from the Moscow region", - the Minister added.
Earlier it was reported that the veterinary-sanitary disposal plant in the Kireevsky area of the Tula region will accept for recycling sanctions products.
The contract was signed between the administration of the Rosselkhoznadzor for Moscow and the Moscow and Tula regions and the enterprise. The design capacity of the Tula plant is 20 tons per day. The regional authorities expect that delivery to the plant sanctions products will allow the company to ensure full capacity utilisation.
The President of Russia on July 29 signed a decree "On certain special economic measures to ensure security of the Russian Federation" according to which since August 6 agricultural products produced in countries that supported economic sanctions against Russia, and prohibited to import into the Russian Federation, is subject to seizure and destruction.
