Construction of a breeding centre for the production of potato seeds started in the Sverdlovsk region, said today the information Department of the Governor. The project was presented at the exhibition "agro-industrial forum" on Tuesday, opened in Yekaterinburg.

"Already built microclonal laboratory on 500 square meters. Soon the body will start growing tubers in tubes", - told in Department of the information of the Governor, without specifying the amount of investment made in this project.

Next year the greenhouse will be built. Completion is scheduled for 2016, and the first seeds of potato Ural production will be obtained in four years. The project is implemented by JSC APK "Belorechensky.

The specialists of the Ural scientific research Institute of agriculture (agricultural research Institute) told TASS about the development of three new varieties of potatoes intended for mechanical harvesting. According to experts, they are a little different in quality from those that are grown in garden plots.

"For truckers, are the most important indicators of taste and shelf life, while for large manufacturers it is necessary that the roots were resistant to mechanical damage", - said earlier in the Institute.
