In the Sverdlovsk region has not managed to collect 3.5% of grain and 8% of potatoes before the snow falls. This was announced at a press conference in the regional press center TASS Director of the Ural Institute of agriculture Nikita Zezin.

"The final results of the harvesting campaign will be announced in mid-November. Farmers no longer gather vegetables, grain harvesting is about to end, left about 3.5%. Last year losses under the snow there are about 12% of grain," he said.

According to preliminary results, the average yield of grain amounted to 29 tons per hectare.

"It is already possible to tell with confidence that, despite poor weather in the summer, the plan for cereals exceeded. This year a good harvest of rape", - said Zezin.

The farmers managed to collect about 92% of potatoes.

"The collected potato provides about 150-170% of the needs of the region's population. The other vegetables worse. But the Middle Urals is considered a zone of risky agriculture, so in past years a portion of the vegetables were purchased in other regions", - he said.

Last year during the harvesting campaign managed to collect about 700 thousand tons of grain, which can cover the needs of the region by 55 percent. In 2014 the region has also provided a potato with an excess (about 76%). The harvest of vegetables amounted to about one third of the required.
