Brazilian farmers who produce cereals, projected to encounter more wet conditions due to the continuing impact of El niño in the collection period of unprecedented harvests of corn and soybeans in the first half of 2016, forecasters said on Thursday.

The "coffee belt" and "belt of sugar cane" from Brazil, which begin to harvest only in the second quarter, will benefit if the final period the moisture will help the crop in later stages of development. But, if more intense than usual, the rains will continue after April, they will complicate the harvest.

The country is one of the peak harvesting and export of soybeans, corn, sugar and coffee that will last the next few months. And in this period the rains will affect workflows.

The global weather phenomenon El niño is associated with warming surface water temperatures of the Pacific ocean, tends to lead to wetter conditions in southern Brazil, which produces about 40% of the 200 million tons of grain in the country.

Almost 200 cities in the southern States of Brazil has declared a state of emergency due to flooding from the recent rains.

Meteorologists predict that global climate models will be included in the transition period at the end of 2016, in preparation for La niña, or the cooling temperatures of the surface waters of the Pacific ocean, which usually means a bit more dry conditions for the South of Brazil.

Farmers claim that the recent rains complicate the gathering of the harvest in some areas. Transport company in the southern parts of center-West "grain belt" is also scrambling to recover from torrential rains received in recent weeks and eroded several roads and bridges.

Meteorologists predict the resumption of the rains in November in the center-the South "agricultural belt".
