A third of the money spent on the import of food, went to buy meat, milk, vegetables and fruits. This was told Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev, in his report at the Government meeting on agriculture and import substitution, which was held yesterday, 11 February.

"Despite the overall positive indicators of production in the industry, in certain areas lack the dynamics. We still continue to take shelf foreign producers of milk, meat, vegetables and fruits. Last year for the purchase of these types of food spent almost 9 billion dollars is about 700 billion rubles, which is only one year received foreign producers, not the Russian", - said Tkachev.

For reference, the Minister cited figures: in 2015, imports of agricultural products and foodstuffs amounted to 27 billion dollars, including imports of dairy products – $ 2 billion, meat products – 3 billion, vegetables – 2 billion, fruit is 1.6.

This despite the fact that, according to him, today the Russian agricultural producers practically fulfill the conditions of the doctrine of food security as regards meat.

"Today, Russia fully provides itself with grain, oil, sugar, potatoes. We have managed to achieve and even exceed the threshold of the doctrine of food security as regards meat. The share of domestic meat products in total reached 89%. In recent years the supply of imported foodstuffs fell by a third. Imports of poultry meat to Russia fell by almost three times", - said the Minister
