Farmers of Buryatia, suffered last summer from drought, buy drought-resistant seeds and introducing the system of land reclamation, reported to journalists the Deputy Minister of agriculture and food of the Republic Julia Dadanawa.

"Before us the challenge now is to provide households certified drought-resistant seeds. Until the end of March we plan to complete the acquisition of such seeds in other regions", - said Dadanawa.

Last year the vegetable growers who participated in the program for reclamation, managed to avoid the disaster and even to increase production by 3.3%.

"This year two farms - "SEC Gazar and Agrolider plus" - will continue to participate in the implementation of drip irrigation, said Dadanawa. Four farms will impose 577 hectares of reclaimed landfir".

The overall Outlook for the drought for this year is mixed. Most experts are inclined to the opinion that soil drought in Buryatia again.

"Recently passed the expanded Board of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation, and it said that we, most likely, again, waiting for a dry season", - said the Deputy Minister.

She added that negotiations are underway with insurance companies so that they met the farmers of the Republic.

"The farmers themselves we also call to insure future harvest", - she noted.

A state of emergency in the Republic of Buryatia due to soil drought was introduced in July in the 11 districts and lasted until the end of September. As a result of the heat wave suffered 122 farms, killing crops on the area of 88,4 thousand ha.
