The completion of the sowing campaign were discussed at an enlarged meeting of the regional headquarters of agriculture, reports regional Committee of information and press.

According to the Deputy Governor of the Kursk region Alexey Zolotarev, early spring grains and oilseeds, sugar beet and annual grasses sown in the best agronomic terms. Just planted 1 million 30 thousand hectares.

Early crops planted on the area of 385 thousand hectares. 150 thousand hectares was occupied by the corn. 109 thousand hectares — sugar beet, which is 12 thousand hectares more than in 2015. Oilseeds planted on an area of more than 300 thousand hectares — 5% more than last year.

Winter employs 524 thousand hectares, condition their favorable. Already the first top dressing nitrogen fertilizer, weeding, chemical weeding, disease control. Most of the farms started feeding spring crops.

Spring sowing campaign has started in Kursk region 5 April — two weeks later than last year. Nevertheless, the economy made up for lost time.
