As a result of sanctions imposed by the EU against Russia, and forced retaliation from Moscow lost to the British economy benefits made in 2015 about $10 billion.

These data were provided by the press Secretary of the Russian Embassy in the UK, Konstantin Shlykov, reports RIA "Novosti".

"As for total trade, only last year it fell by almost 50% compared to 2014, and the opportunity cost was, according to our estimates, about $10 billion," he said.

Britain, along with Poland, Sweden and the Baltic States is a staunch supporter of extending the sanctions regime against Russia.

Earlier it was reported that the European Union by the end of the year may withdraw from the Russia part of the sanctions.
