Earlier it was reported that the construction of the first in Siberia of the centre for the breeding of valuable fish species of the Ob basin should begin in the Tomsk region in 2016, with total investment estimated at 1 billion rubles. Aquabiotech will ensure the breeding of commodity fish and the entry of import-substituting products. The complex will be located 25 km from Tomsk to the village of Mandinka. The main objective of contractors is to provide year-round reproduction of the fish in harsh conditions, when the temperature drops to minus 40 degrees.

Authorities in Tomsk region will give 72 lake businesses for fish farming in the next two years, announced at a meeting on the fisheries of the Deputy Governor on agriculture and the environment Andrew Knorr.

In the Tomsk region last year produced more than 2.2 thousand tons of fish (previous year - less than 2 thousand tons). The number of producing companies has increased from 137 to 144. The proportion of water biological resources has reached 85.2% of the supplied volumes (previously 79.3 per cent). The volume of processed fish increased by 22.7% and amounted to about 2.9 thousand tons.
