29 July 2016, the Russian Rosselkhoznadzor temporarily restricts the import of feed of a number of companies of Argentina, Brazil, Germany and China. The reason is the presence in their products of genetically modified ingredients, according to the website of the Ministry.

"The information about the content of GMOs in products has not been reflected in the accompanying documents", - stated in the message.

Restrictions will affect Argentine companies Bunge Argentina, Renova S. A., Santa fe. Argentina/Senasa, Vicentin S. A. I. C., Brazilian Bunge Alimentos S. A., No PR-03857 Louis Dreyfus Commodities Brasil S. A., German No HRA 10 80 87 ADM Hamburg Aktiengesellschaft – Werk Hamburg, and Chinese COFCO Biometal energy (Longjiang).

As noted by the Rosselkhoznadzor in case of receipt of the products of these enterprises shipped before the restrictions, the decision on clearance of such cargoes is accepted in a usual laboratory monitoring for the presence of undeclared GM ingredients".

In July 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law prohibiting the cultivation and breeding in Russia genetically modified plants and animals, as well as the import into Russia of genetically modified organisms and products except for scientific purposes.
