Sakhalin will be 70% self-sufficient in food
Enterprises in the territories of priority development in Sakhalin will allow to 2018 to reach 70% providing the region with a foodstuff of own production that exceeds current production volumes of foodstuffs twice

This opinion was expressed by the Governor of the Sakhalin region Oleg Kozhemyako.

"Priority development area "South" includes the list of objects of agricultural areas, which are necessary primarily in order to feed the Sakhalin own high quality products at an affordable price. It is based on advanced European technology of pig-breeding direction, broiler production, greenhouse farming and dairy complexes. All this will allow in 2018 to go on the food supply to 70%," — said Oleg Kozhemyako on presentation of investment potential of the Sakhalin region in Moscow on Wednesday.

He said that for this production volume in a number of food products must be doubled. The Governor also noted that today the region of 10% provides itself with meat of its own production, milk – by 20 to 24%, vegetables by 40%.


"The meat birds we have just started providing. Went so far only the first 50 tons. We see the priorities in increasing milk production, pork, poultry and vegetables. Subsequently they will be joined by the beef" — said Oleg Kozhemyako.


Potatoes and egg, in the words of the Governor of Sakhalin, the region now provides itself in full.

Oleg Kozhemyako added that after 2018 in Sakhalin Tori planned creation of a genetic centres that could supply tribal products in the Asia-Pacific region.


"Interested in it in the first place China and other regions. We also consider the possibility of supplies to the Asia-Pacific region our products are grown in environmentally friendly conditions"
