This was announced at a meeting of the Council of Federation of the Governor of Tambov region Alexander Nikitin on Wednesday.

"The development of the sector of processing of agricultural products, based on its own resource base, is today our priority and one of the most investment-heavy sectors of the regional economy. The volume of investment in the agricultural sector of the region by the end of 2015 amounted to 35 billion rubles. Dynamics of investments of the current year allows you to maintain last year's level", — he said.

According to A. Nikitin, in the structure of the gross regional product of the Tambov region, the share of agriculture is more than 27%. By the end of 2015, the region was part of the three leaders of the Central Federal district for the production of grain, sugar beet, sunflower. He also said that Tambov oblast intends to become one of the leaders in the development of horticulture in Russia.
