The company "Green line" (the operator of the greenhouse complex of the retailer "Magnit") has started construction of a center for the cultivation of mushrooms in Krasnodar, reported the Ministry of agriculture of the region. The volume of investments into the project is estimated at 1.79 billion RUB.

On the area of 245 hectares is planned to build a compost workshop and a workshop on growing mushrooms on 24 camera equipped with air-conditioning equipment with automation and mechanization of individual processes. The output will be 6.4 thousand tons of mushrooms per year.

Mushroom cultivation, especially in the scale as it's going to do "Magnet" is one of the most profitable types of agricultural production because the crop is collected all year round, commented, "the Agroinvestor" analyst GK ALOR Kirill Yakovenko.

In 2016, Russia imported some 65 thousand tons of fresh mushrooms for approximately $90 million, said Yakovenko, adding that imports and domestic production still does not cover the existing demand.

The sector of mushroom cultivation in many regions of the country refers to the priority and subject to subsidies. For example, in the Moscow region, the investors in this direction compensate up to 25% of capital costs. According to Rosstat, in 2015 the production of mushrooms in the country has increased almost by 13% (8.7 thousand MT). Import share, by different estimations, now is 78-92%.
