Funding for the planting of new gardens in the Penza region will increase from 15 to 50 million rubles in 2018. TASS reported on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of agriculture of the Penza region Andrey Burlakov.

"We've never allocated any significant resources. But this year, for orchards, especially Apple orchards, we have sent 15 million rubles, and in 2018, the amount will increase to 50 million rubles," - said boatmen.

According to him, in 2017 the allocated funds was laid on 200 hectares of gardens of intensive type, another 300 hectares will be laid next year - in total this is about a third of the area of the existing gardens.

Thanks to the investments in the creation of new gardens, the regional authorities hope for eight years to double the total production of apples (currently it is about 11 thousand tons) and completely cover the domestic demand they have noticed boatmen.

"This is a project with a long payback period, because the gardens of intensive type gives normal returns only in the fourth year. But we specifically lay such gardens because they give a greater yield of marketable apples - about 60-70%", - said the Agency interlocutor.
