New outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) detected in the Crimea, Chuvashia, Volgograd and Kaliningrad regions. Virus detected in the carcasses of domestic pigs, wild boar, and ready for selling meat products, said on Monday on the website of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

ASF, a viral disease affecting wild boars and domestic pigs. The first outbreak of ASF was registered in 2007. For humans, the disease is not dangerous.

It is clarified that twice in recent days, the virus detected in the samples taken from dead wild boars: near the town of Sudak in the Crimea and on the territory of the local forestry Poreckogo KU "Shumerlinskiy forestry" of the Chuvash Republic. In Kaliningrad it is detected in samples taken from domestic pigs from a personal services of a resident of Kaliningrad.

Also the genetic material of the virus was found in ham and smoked sausage, which was delivered from the enterprise for slaughter and processing of livestock products in the farm Lobakin Surovikinsky area of the Volgograd region.

Earlier it was reported that the Rosselkhoznadzor experts consider ineffective efforts to combat the spread of ASF authorities in the Volgograd region, where since the beginning of the year revealed more than 20 foci of the virus. In the Kaliningrad region is also not the first outbreak of the virus this year, from November 10 Belarus has restricted the import of live pigs, zoo and circus animals susceptible species, meat of pork (including wild boar) from this region.
