The commissioning of new greenhouses will increase the number grown in the Khabarovsk region of larch seedlings up to 8 million a year, said on Wednesday the government of the region.

"Will put into operation 10 new greenhouses for growing seedlings of larch with closed root system. This will increase the amount of planting material of this species of trees up to 8 million units per year", - stated in the message.

As explained TASS in the forest management of Khabarovsk Krai government, the greenhouse will start in the spring, and in may will begin to plant the seeds of larch. Over the summer, the seedlings will grow enough to be planted in the burned areas, areas of deforestation in the past years, the gaps and vacant lots around the Khabarovsk Krai.

"The new greenhouses will be located near the village of Nekrasovka, where there are more than ten such greenhouses," - said the chief specialist of the Department of reforestation of the forest management of Khabarovsk Krai government Stanislav Smarden.

According to management, only in the Khabarovsk territory are 33 such greenhouses. In 2017, they had grown to 5.2 million standard seedlings of larch with closed root system. Khabarovsk Krai is the only far Eastern regions, where this technology is applied. Forest crops grown this way have a high survival rate, good growth and do not require long-term care.
