Crimean company Alma Valley this year will begin to create in the Crimea nursery for growing seedlings of grapes, which will allow to solve existing problems with the planting on the Peninsula. About this TASS said Thursday in a press-service of the company.

"This year, the economy of Alma Valley is launching an ambitious project - a nursery of seedlings of grapes, which aims to solve the existing problems with the planting on the Peninsula. It is no secret that the planting material we are still 95% dependent on imports, but the first Crimean seedlings produced according to the highest international standards, will appear this fall," - said TASS in the press service of the company.

The initial capacity of the kennel will be 2 million seedlings a year. "The release will be focused not only to meet the needs in planting material projects of our company. Clients will be those small growers, wine producers, which to this day, bumping into difficulties with the import of seedlings, simply delayed the landing for an indefinite period", - explained the press service.

The CEO of Alma Valley Andrey Grigoriev noted that the nursery construction will cost 300 million rubles. "The estimated payback period is four years," he added.

As explained TASS in the press service of the company, the range of nursery will present a wide variety of technical varieties of grapes, including high-quality clones of the best European varieties. In addition, in cooperation with relevant institutions, such as the "Magarach", are planning studies aimed at preserving the gene pool of local varieties, the cleaning of the planting material from viruses and multi-stage quality control seedlings.

Earlier it was reported that in the Crimean Peninsula after reunification with Russia in 2014, has decided to revive viticulture and winemaking - these sectors are now a priority for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. However, during the time spent in the Ukraine, the Peninsula has lost two thirds of its own vineyards, with the planting material is not enough, and the Crimean producers have to buy plants abroad.
