Karachay-Cherkessia actively developing intensive gardening and could eventually become the largest producer of pears in Russia, told TASS, the Minister of agriculture of the Karachaevo-Circassia Anzor Botashev.

"This year, the investor LLC "Gardens of Karachay-Cherkessia" laid the first pear orchard, which in the future will occupy an area of 20 hectares and will be the largest garden, planted in the modern history of Russia. Today the demand of Russian market in the pear is 1 million tons. At KCR has the opportunity to become the largest producer of pears in our country," said Botashev.

The implementation of the investment project for the laying of the fruit gardens of intensive type, began in 2017 in the framework of the state program "Socio-economic development of the North Caucasus Federal district until 2025". Only KCR in 2017, the orchards produced on the area of 339 hectares, with 239 hectares of intensive gardens, to the end of the current year the area will be increased by another 200 hectares.

"The plans for import substitution - increase of production in the region of fruit production of more than 8 thousand tons per year. The use of intensive orchard technologies will provide a high yielding, quality product and reduce risks of crop losses," - said the Minister.

According to Botashev, an important role in the development of the gardening, play a climate and resource advantages. "Coupled with these factors, the use of technology intensive type gave the opportunity for a strong start of the revival of the horticultural industry in Karachay-Cherkessia as a whole," he added.

According to the Minister, the intensive gardens held large farms of the Republic, OOO "APK "Elbrus", "Perekrestok" and "Tram", "FKH Peace". "As part of their projects will be produced planting technology of intensive type in an area of 500 hectares," - said the Agency interlocutor.
