In Russia produced 22.2 thousand tons of red caviar in 2018, which is 1.7 times more than the year before. About it reports a press-service of Federal Agency for fishery.

This remarkable growth is due to a record pink salmon catches. In the past year were caught 676 thousand tonnes of Pacific salmon, mostly pink salmon. The catch was almost twice more than in the year 2017, in connection with decreased wholesale prices for pink salmon and its ROE.

Increased production of black caviar — 7%, to 32 tonnes. Sturgeon caviar is the only aquaculture businesses, as Russia has a ban on catching sturgeon species, he reminded the office.

Increased the volume of production of deep processing. Thus, the production of ice cream fish fillets increased by 8% to 157 thousand tons of preserves by 48% to 70 thousand tons. Production of frozen fish decreased by 2%, to 3 million tons and the production of canned fish — by 2.7%, to 207 thousand tons. The total volume of fish production for the year remained unchanged at 4.2 million tonnes.

As reported IA REGNUM, in 2018 in Russia produced 5,03 mln tonnes of aquatic bioresources, which was 5.1% more than in 2017. This figure was a record for 26 years.
