New seedless grape varieties, created by Spanish scientists, adapted to regional climatic conditions, have good quality and cost-effective for manufacturers.

Scientists of the Murcian agroinstitute got 17 registered varieties, which are characterized by their crisp texture, high productivity and lower demands on the cultivation technologies. Growers planted grapes improved varieties in more than 900 hectares in seven years.

When developing varieties researchers have set the goal to include disease resistance, particularly to mildew and mildew, which pose the greatest threat in Spain and other parts of the world.

The main advantage of growing these varieties claimed a smaller loss of yield and savings for phytosanitary treatment, which also leads to a reduction in the number of pesticide residues in the grapes and reduces the impact of agrochemicals on the environment.

Initially, the development of new varieties was aimed to support local producers, but in view of the interest shown by producers from other parts of the world, the plant material was submitted for cultivation in Chile, Peru, Brazil, South Africa and Australia.
