On Monday the Ministry of agriculture of France has published a negative Outlook for the harvest of winter rape in the 2016/17 season. Ongoing excessive rains provoke the development of diseases and it is possible that the same effects can comprehend and spring crops in France. In the result the average yield of canola decrease by 4.9% to 3.39 t/ha and compensates for the expansion of the area (+1,2% compared to last season) to 1.5 million hectares.

According to the Ministry in 2016, the volume of the harvest of winter rape will amount to 5.1 million tons, which is 3.7% lower than last year and 2% below the five-year average values.

This year, excessive moisture led to a sharp increase in the number of insects, fungi and diseases, especially in the North-Eastern part of the country.
