In the harvesting campaign involved about two thousand harvesters, including more than 300 units of equipment will be drawn from neighboring regions. Last year's grain harvest exceeded 2.5 million tons, thus fully provide for domestic consumption region. In addition, such volumes of harvested grain allowed the farmers to implement the order of 1 million tons of grain outside of the Russian Federation.

"Threshing of winter wheat and peas are almost in all municipal areas, only the Northern territory farmers are awaiting the ripening of crops. Today the average field yield is 38.8 tons per hectare, while farms in the Yelets district of up to 50 centners from hectare", — told in regional administration.

Grains in the region is almost 700 thousand hectares. More than half of this amount allocated for winter wheat - 367 thousand hectares. The remaining area allocated for corn, grain, barley and sunflower. From the start of July is the harvesting of winter camelina, area acreage which is 5.6 hectares.

It should be noted that substantial support for farmers has had a regional government, highlighting more than 600 million roubles from Federal and regional budgets for carrying out of spring field work.
