"In the framework of continuing work to promote Russian agricultural products in promising markets, in connection with numerous appeals of Russian participants in foreign economic activities, who are interested in grain export to Iraq, the Rosselkhoznadzor sent a request to the Department of plant protection Ministry of agriculture of the Republic of Iraq on the submission of relevant phytosanitary requirements as well as requirements for the quality and safety of grain and products of its processing for Iraq imported grain", — is spoken in the message.

It is noted that the Rosselkhoznadzor is ready in the near future to hold talks with representatives of the Ministry of agriculture of Iraq to discuss issues of Russian grain export into the country.

Earlier, the Russian side expressed interest in restoration of supply of agricultural products to the Iraqi market. In February Russia and Iraq in the framework of the sixth session of the intergovernmental Commission expressed readiness to expand cooperation in the field of agriculture, in particular, agreed to establish cooperation on exchange of experience in the field of cultivation of grain crops.
