Regions will be engaged in the development of agriculture, tourism and the fishing industry, reports a press-service of the government of the Sakhalin region. The decision was made Thursday following the meeting that a delegation of the people's Khural of Buryatia was held by the Deputy Chairman of the Sakhalin regional government, Igor Bystrov.

"The agreement on cooperation between the regions since 1998. Mainly, it provides for the exchange of food and supplies from the Republic to Sakhalin prefabricated building structures. According to the Sakhalin authorities, the list of areas of cooperation should be significantly enhanced," reads the message.

First of all, said Igor Bystrov, actors should establish contacts in agriculture. In Buryatia is one of the leading industries, and on Sakhalin – it is under active development.

"We attach great importance to interregional contacts, and to date has already concluded 26 agreements on cooperation with subjects of Federation. Our main partners are from the far East, but this year, agreements were signed with the Voronezh and Tver regions, the Republic of Tatarstan", — said I. Bystrov.

"We believe that in today's reality format of cooperation between Sakhalin and Buryatia should be much broader. This position should be reflected in a new cooperation agreement between the regions", — summed up the meeting in Sakhalin the Chairman.
