Gross harvest of soybeans in South Africa will increase by 57%
According to the latest forecast of the National Committee for harvest estimates, to 2017/18 MG gross harvest of soybeans in South Africa could increase by 57% in the year to a record 1.16 million tonnes

The growth rate will be achieved through the expected increase in the yield of oilseeds to 20.3 t/ha, 25% will exceed the average for the last 4 years. If the forecast is justified, the needs of the South African processors of soybean will be satisfied at the expense of local oilseeds.

As for sunflower, the forecast yield was lowered to 896 (929) thousand tons, but still remains a record for South Africa increased and exceeds the level of last season by 19%.

This reduction in acreage under oilseeds (12% per year) is expected to be offset by its high productivity, which will increase by 21%.

Expected growth of oil crops will contribute to sufficient rainfall in the country this year, however, some experts do not exclude that the sunflower crops can suffer from diseases.
