According to the final evaluation of the Ministry of agriculture of Bulgaria, in the 2016/17 marketing year, sunflower was sown on the area of 820 thousand hectares, cleaning is conducted on 818 thousand hectares were harvested in the size 1838 thousand tons with an average yield of 2.25 tons/ha.

Thus, Bulgarian farmers in terms of extension, planting and harvesting areas and yields close to a record, managed to collect sunflower 7.5% more compared to last season.

As for the future of the 2017/18 season, UkrAgroConsult analysts believe that the causes of the high profitability of sunflower production will play a role, and of the sowing area of this crop will be increased to 850 thousand ha of sunflower Crop will grow.
