According to analysts Safras & Mercado, Brazilian farmers sold 58% of the crop 2016/17 season against 76% in 2015/16. Sales of new crop soybeans (2017/18 season), sowing of which will be completed in September, amount to 4.3% against 21% at the same date last year.
Current purchase prices too low for farmers. In the hope of deteriorating weather conditions in the United States and rising prices for soybeans in Chicago, farmers sell soybeans at a moderate pace.
