Stocks of wheat in Iran currently make up 12 million tons, 6 million tons of last year's harvest, said the head of the wheat Project of the Ministry of agricultural development, according to Financial Tribune.

"More than 6 million tons of wheat, worth 78 trillion rials (of 2.06 billion dollars) was purchased from local farmers across the country so far in the current season of the harvest," - said Ismail Esfandiarpour. Khuzestan, Golestan and Fars topping the list of provinces that had made purchases.

Last year in Iran produced a record amount of wheat in the amount of 14 million tons, over 11.76 million tonnes of which more than $ 4 billion dollars was purchased by the government from local farmers at guaranteed prices.
