In 2017/18 season world area under the main cereal crops will be lower than over the past four seasons. The market reacts to the lower margins in grain production. According to recent estimates, USDA, global wheat, corn and barley will be reduced by 58 million tonnes, but reserves will be a third world record in the history of observations.

Ukraine in the 2017/18 season repeats of the global trend of a decline in acreage under crops. Over the past five years, the cereal has lost about 12% of the acreage. As for the current season, the reduction was insignificant. Some growth of wheat was offset by a decrease of the area of barley. The reduction in the area along with the not very favorable weather conditions resulted in the reduction of grain yield. Thus, with the continued decline in domestic consumption. in 2017/18 expected fall in grain exports compared to last season.
