According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of agriculture in the UK (AHDB), in 2017. the area sown to wheat in the country will decrease by 3% compared to last year, to 1.76 million ha. the Reduction is expected in the Eastern regions of England where the plants are particularly susceptible to development of fungal diseases.

In addition, the survey results showed that the declining trend in area under rapeseed continues. The reduction amounted to 4% to 553 thousand ha. in the case of rape the surveys were conducted only in England and Scotland.

Farmers chose to expand the area under spring barley. According to the survey, the area sown under the crop will increase during the year by 9% to 725 thousand hectares.
