According to the USDA forecast of analysts in Indonesia, at the end of 2017/18 MG volume of palm oil exports from the country may reach a record 26.5 million tons, 1 million tons above the official USDA projections and the maximum to this result, achieved in 2014/15 is 25.9 ml. tons, according to Agrimoney.
According to experts, this growth will be driven by improved prospects of production and growing demand on the world market.
So, for the first 5 months of this year Indonesia increased shipments of palm oil 29% compared with the same period a year earlier, with significantly increased delivery in the direction of the largest importer – India – to 818 thousand tons.
Growth in shipments was also associated with the dynamics of world prices for palm oil, which fell to $621 per ton in June, compared to $726 per tonne last year.
In the remaining half of the season, according to experts, volumes of shipments of palm oil from Indonesia will also be quite high due to the production growth to a record 36.5 million tons, as well as the increasing price difference between palm oil and soya bean oil on the world market.
