Kuban became the leader among regions of Russia on the yield of grain crops, breaking its own record collection of last year, reported in a press-service of administration of Krasnodar region.

Kuban "broke its own record collection of last year, including the quality of the grain. This year region, despite the decrease of the sowing area of grain crops by almost 50 thousand hectares, has collected 10 million 364 thousand tons, which increased by 212 thousand tons in analogy with the 2016 year", – said the Agency.

It is clarified that a yield in the region is 63.3 kg/ha.

"The yield of grain crops in the Kuban region today remains the highest in Russia. After the region on these indicators are the other regions of the South," – said the Ministry of agriculture of the Kuban.

As noted by the regional authorities, citing data from the Ministry of agriculture, sowing area of the Rostov region is almost two times more than in the Kuban region, with 2.9 million hectares versus 1.6 million hectares, gross yield exceeds 12 million tons with an average yield of over 40 centner/ha; agrarians of Stavropol territory has collected about nine million tons of grain and an average yield of 43.4 kg/ha.

As stated by the Deputy head of the region Andrei Box, 85% assembled in the Kuban wheat has good baking qualities.

The Ministry added that the region will soon begin harvesting corn square in 679,5 thousand hectares, and rice – to 122 thousand hectares.

"Due to the increase of crops grain maize according to all forecasts has a chance to beat last year's record harvest," – noted the regional authorities. According to the forecasts of the Vice-Governor of the Box, the volume of corn production will reach 3.7 million tons of rice, not less than 900 thousand tons.
