According to ITAR-TASS, scientists from the Institute of nuclear physics of the Siberian branch of the RAS asked the Rospotrebnadzor with the request to allow in Russia technology of the cold electronic pasteurization (exposure) products used in many countries of the world.

Its legalization will allow 30% to reduce loss during storage of vegetables and grains, and to improve the quality of falling on the table of poultry meat and seafood, says the Deputy Director of the Institute of nuclear physics of the Siberian branch of the RAS Gennadi Kulipanov.

"We wrote letters to the Russian and received almost positive response: this issue is addressed. Together with us the Kazakhstan requested to be allowed - they have some of our accelerators, and they are also interested in. Remember, we are a single customs Union, and the law should be the same," said Kulipanov.

According to Kulipanov, cold electronic pasteurization for decades used in many Western countries, but also in India and China.

In Russia this technology are wary that, according to the scientist, has no reason - this method of exposure is absolutely safe.

Another advantage of technology Kulipanov calls the possibility of development of Russia's production of replacing imported products, due to reduction of losses during storage.

"In stores lot of potatoes from Pakistan and Egypt. If we increase the percentage of its security, you import substitution, which is currently much talk," said the scientist.

The cost of irradiation

The cost of one industrial accelerator, suitable for cold electronic pasteurization, the INP is from $1 million to 3 million, depending on the tasks and scope.
