Lithuania is the leader among the Baltic States in the fight against unhealthy lifestyle, making changes on the market of energy drinks, which budut influence on consumer protection in the years to come.

However, Lithuania is the toughest position in the fight against energy drinks with high caffeine content, banning their sale to persons under 18 years of age.

This means that restrictions were imposed not only on the sale of energy drinks, but also on their advertising in schools and places frequented by persons under the age of 18, such as cinemas, theatres, sporting events or charity events.

In addition, from July 2014, all advertising of energy drinks in Lithuania must be accompanied by the phrase: "do not be consumed with alcohol.

The new law entered into force after study has shown that mixing alcohol and energy drinks is dangerous. According to experts, the caffeine in energy drinks can mask the effects of alcohol, leading to alcohol wakefulness. Consumers in this state may underestimate the effect of alcohol and to drink more than usual, which is extremely dangerous, especially for young people.

Lithuania is the only Baltic state that has declared war on energy drinks.

The government in Latvia in April 2013 has proposed a bill to restrict the sale, marketing and distribution of energy drinks, the adoption of which has been delayed due to perturbations producers and importers.
