In the near future in the Astrakhan region will be launched the country's largest fish-breeding complex for growing tilapia. Production volume will be 1130 tons per year of live and chilled fish. The project has been carried out by the National fish biotechnology - steppe" ("NRBC-steppe"), the first products will appear in 2015. Here in the next year the company plans to begin construction of mini-plants for cultivation of repair-breeding flocks, and feed, container plant and other auxiliary enterprises.

The second phase of the project involves the construction in Astrakhan oblast plant breeding of Siberian sturgeon and production of black caviar with the capacity of 50 tons per year.

The project found support in the administration of the Astrakhan region. Was created a public-private partnership (PPP)project was recognised as a priority for development in the region and attracted to him, including the budget. Primarily in the area decided to build a fish hatchery, growing more "popular" fish - tilapia. If the plan will show its economic efficiency, the company plans to continue to build a fish-breeding complexes.
