Yesterday, the Head of the Ministry of agriculture of Germany, Christian Schmidt officially opened the 80-th anniversary International agroindustrial exhibition-fair "Green week", which is considered a major global event in the agricultural industry. It is expected that this year the exhibition will be attended by more than 400 thousand people. "Green week", the partner country which is this year Latvia will last until January 26.

This year's "Green week" takes place amid fears of local farmers and food producers. In Germany there is a view that, with the planned creation of a free trade area with the United States, will be significantly reduced quality of products on the General market space. Place of European goods, allegedly, can be more cheap and less quality products from American suppliers.

Schmidt has tried to reassure opponents of the creation of a free trade area and stated that the high quality standards "cannot be discussed". According to him, so shall it be in the conclusion of agreements with the United States.

Russia is traditionally one of the largest exhibitors. In the framework of the Russian exposition at the Berlin Green week" will be presented to dozens of companies. The delegation of the Russian Federation on the AGROFORUM will be headed by the Minister of agriculture Nikolai Fedorov. Also in the delegation included representatives of both chambers of the Federal Assembly, a number of ministries and departments, heads of educational and scientific institutions, and representatives of agribusiness.
