Farmers Adygea plan to collect this year a record harvest of rice is about 34 thousand tons. This was announced by the Minister of agriculture and food of the region Yury Petrov.

"We expect a record harvest of rice in the entire history of the Republic of Adygei and Adygei Autonomous region - approximately 34 thousand tons. The results achieved through increasing the area under culture and productivity", - said Petrov.

In 2014 the figure was 20.6 thousand tons. Gross harvest of rice during the last nine years has increased 2.6 times. Crops of this culture in 2006 were located in the area of 2.4 thousand hectares with an average yield of 33.2 C / ha.

This year 2015, they have increased more than three times, up to 7.5 hectares, with average yields of 45 quintals per hectare. About 22% of crop area sown with elite long-grain varieties of seeds. Today, harvesting is in its final stage. Of total sown area stayed clean a little more than 1 ha.

Rice cultivation has become a profitable business, said Petrov. This year, the region's leadership in support of rice production adopted a decision to allocate subsidies for the purchase of elite seeds of rice. Farmers were able to get to 8 rubles per kilogram of seed.

Next year the area under rice sowing in Adygea planned to increase up to 8 thousand hectares. Completion of works on the reconstruction of the Shapsug reservoir will solve the problems with availability of irrigation systems in some areas of the region. The water supply should be established by 2017, it will significantly increase acreage, said the head of the Republican Ministry of agriculture.

In 2015 on support of agriculture of Adygea is provided by 655 million rubles.
