The international Grains Council (IGC) has published medium-term forecast of world production and consumption of grain.

After a generous yields collected in the previous two seasons, in 2015/2016, the world production of grain (wheat and feed grains) will decrease until 1944 million tons (-2,2% compared to last season), and then will resume growth in the 2017/2018 season will set a record 2,007 billion tons

The increase is mainly due to the growth of productivity, and to a lesser extent due to the expansion of harvesting areas, in particular in South America and in the CIS.
World consumption of grain in the coming years will update the records due to the growth of food and fodder consumption. This season it just a little bit will not reach the level of last season and will be at 1,959 billion tons (-0.1 per cent).

World trade will also increase. This season, the volume of world trade will reach billion 0,291 t (of 1.4%). To spur trade will be growing demand for corn in Asia and Africa.

The share of the countries of the black sea region in world wheat trade will continue to grow.
Grain stocks will decline slightly, in particular, corn stocks.
