Exports of rye from Ukraine in November amounted to 5.4 thousand tons compared to 0.65 thousand tonnes in November last year. Since the beginning of the season Ukraine has exported 13.2 thousand tons of rye, which is 21% higher than exports for the same period in 2014/15.

The purchase of Ukrainian rye in November resumed Israel and Egypt, importing 3.3 million tons and 2.1 thousand tons respectively. Egypt in 2010 was almost the only buyer of rye from Ukraine. Israel, however, just a couple of years ago, in the 2012/13 season, was the main importer of Ukrainian rye, which accounted for 74% of the total volume exported from Ukraine.

Recall that the production of rye in Ukraine is reduced every year. Cultivation area of rye has been minimal in recent years, and production of rye was determined primarily by domestic consumption, as the markets for this crop are limited.
