According to German analysts, in January-April of 2016, European Union countries imported to 0.34 million tons of palm oil in comparison with the same period a year earlier to 2.4 million tonnes, which significantly exceeded the expectations of experts.
Of this amount the largest volume of products were shipped from Indonesia – 1,17 (1,08) million tons and Malaysia – 746 (636) thousand tons. In addition, significantly increased its exports of palm oil during the period, the Columbia, which in the EU countries 113 thousand tonnes against a total of 9 thousand tons a year earlier.
About a third were purchased from European countries the volume of palm oil will be used as raw material for the biodiesel industry, and the remainder will be sent in the food sector, which partially fill the lack of canola oil on the internal market of the EU.
