The growth of prices for food products in Russia in January - June 2016 was 3.3%, while in EU food became more expensive by only 0.4%, follows from the data of Federal state statistics service (Rosstat).

In June, prices for food products in Russia rose by 0.4% after a similar increase in may and April, by 0.2% in March, 0.7% in February and a jump of 1.4% in January. In the EU, food prices in June rose 0.1%.

According to the news service in Russia since the beginning of the year prices increased for vegetables, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets - 1.7 and 1.2% respectively (the average for EU countries, prices of vegetables declined by 2.5%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and candies - no change).

Fish and seafood, bakery products and cereals rose in price by 0.7 and 0.6% respectively (the average for EU countries fish and seafood became more expensive by 0.4%, prices for bakery products and cereals have not changed), oil and fats by 0.2% in the EU they fell by 0.1%).

Fruit prices decreased 3.5% (in the EU they rose by 1.3%), dairy products, cheeses and eggs - on 0,8% (on average across countries of the European Union, this group fell by 0,4%), meat and meat products - by 0.1% (in EU prices have gone up 0.1%).
