The state purchasing interventions of grain harvest-2016 was launched on 19 August in the Crimea. In September, intervention in spot trading started in Central Russia, the Volga region, the Urals and Siberia. The Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation intends before the end of the year to purchase in intervention Fund of 600 thousand tons of grain, in the 2016-2017 marketing year - up to 2 million tons, including 100 thousand tons of grain in the course of the intervention in the Crimea.

Intervention the previous season was held from 19 August 2015 to 6 April 2016. In the past agricultural year on the Crimean stock exchange was purchased 66,779 thousands of tons of grain to 644,429 million rubles, the National commodities exchange - 1,701 million tons in 17,691 billion. Intervention Fund of grain as of September 2 totaled 3,247 million tons worth 28,758 billion.
