Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Evgeny Gromyko took part in the eighth BRICS summit in 2016, which was held in Goa (India).
During the summit there was signed a Memorandum of understanding to establish the platform for agricultural research in the BRICS countries.
The document is aimed at ensuring the effective cooperation of the BRICS countries on the issues of sustainable development of agriculture, reducing hunger and poverty in the world, conducting joint research, personnel exchanges, joint projects, and promote agricultural trade.
"Today's priority areas, especially where there is a need for public and private investment. We consider BRICS as a huge source of investment opportunities and Russia is ready to cooperate in this sphere", — said Evgeny Gromyko.
The draft Memorandum of understanding to establish the platform for agricultural research of the BRICS countries was agreed by the heads of agricultural departments at the Sixth meeting of Ministers of agriculture and agricultural development of the BRICS countries, held in September this year in India. Also developed a plan for the implementation of the Memorandum for the period 2016-2021.
