In Russia in 2016 completed the state purchasing interventions on the grain market. Since the beginning of the interventions on the grain market – 19 August this year, the National commodity exchange was purchased 954 thousand tons of grain totaling more than 9.1 billion rubles. Including procurement of 603 thousand tons of wheat of the 4th class, 155 thousand tons of wheat of 5th class, 143 thousand tons of wheat of the 3rd class, 53 thousand tons of barley.

Grain interventions were carried out in 23 regions of the Russian Federation.

The state purchasing interventions are carried out in accordance with the Rules of exercising state purchase and commodity interventions for regulation of market of agricultural products, raw materials and food, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation from August 3, 2001 № 580.

The mechanism of procurement (procurement by the state grain) and commodity (selling grain from the state intervention Fund) intervention operates in Russia since 2001. It is aimed at the stabilization of prices on the grain market and support agricultural producers. When prices fall, the government removes excess grain from the market in order to stop its depreciation, with a sharp rise in prices – is selling grain from the state Fund and thereby stops its rise in price.
