The economic policy Committee recommended state Duma to reject the draft law, Senator Anton Belyakov on the donation sanctions of food products for socially important needs.

As explained by the head of the Committee Sergey Zhigarev, imported Russian products that fall under the food embargo, mainly related to goods high priced – in particular, we are talking about luxury cheeses. In addition, the volume of illegally supplied goods is negligible. Finally, redistribution, storage and certification will create more problems than good, concluded Zhigarev.

In the explanatory note Belyakov writes that the proposed measure is in line with global trends. For example, in France, large grocery stores must enter into contracts with charitable organizations about donating products, the implementation period is ending or just ended. Italy also passed a law to simplify the transfer of unexploited stores of food to needy citizens. Foddering system that enables individuals, retailers and manufacturers to transmit or pick up products, recyclable exists since 2012 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

We will remind, earlier the Federation Council has offered to transfer to social needs the sanctions products of good quality, instead of destroy them. The bill was introduced in the state Duma in the second half of 2016.
