Purchasing interventions in the milk market can begin in may 2017, the final decision will be made in March, said the Deputy Director of Department of regulation of agricultural markets Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Fedyushin.

"We plan this year to start (holding dairy interventions). Dairy interventions are planned in the "high season" milk is may, June, July, August – during this period," — said D. Fedyushin on the sidelines of the South grain forum which took place on Tuesday in Stavropol.

"In March will be prepared in order of the Ministry of agriculture will define the prices for raw and dry milk, and butter... We will analyze now the situation on the market, the more there are prerequisites to the fact that milk prices are rising, and (in March) will be determined by the position of the Ministry of agriculture at the beginning of the dairy interventions in 2017", — said D. Fedyushin.

D. Fedyushin said that "while we plan them (dairy intervention – ed.) conduct, especially in the budget funds for their implementation".

He said that last year's interventions have not begun due to the fact that in the Russian legislation "there are small gaps that hinder the participation of processors of raw milk in intervention".

"Now the interventions can only be agricultural producers. Not all producers of raw milk have the capacity for drying milk or the manufacture of butter" — said D. Fedyushin.
