Conducting dairy interventions at the current price of milk in Russia is unprofitable, said the Director of the Department of animal husbandry and breeding Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation Kharon Amerkhanov.

"Intervention is necessary, from my point of view to the seasonality did not affect the pricing. Today in the conditions, when we have a price from 30 rubles per kilogram of milk in Russia, by and large, it makes no sense to hold them. But we don't know what awaits us in April, may, June and July, in this case, if the price drops, it is necessary to carry out", — he said after the meeting on dairy cattle in the Orenburg region.

According to him, the Federal funds under the dairy intervention has already been allocated, they will be implemented. "But it's like with grain – need to adjust where you need to spend where it is not necessary to carry out", — said Amerkhanov.

Earlier, the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation proposed the government to pursue a dairy intervention in nine regions of the Russian Federation, including Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Altai Krai, Orenburg, Saratov, Omsk, Novosibirsk and Belgorod region. In these regions it accounts for up to 90% of the annual production of dry milk in Russia.

Dairy intervention in Russia could begin in may 2017. According to the estimates of Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation, expenses for procurement and commodity interventions will amount to about RUB 1 billion a year.

Conducting dairy interventions will encourage processors to purchase raw materials to achieve the price low and due to additional demand will help to smooth out price fluctuations in the period of "big milk" (June-August).
