Opening the meeting Yevgeny Nepoklonov noted that Russia's influence on the world sugar market is growing every year. Last year, Russian farmers have collected a record harvest of sugar beet – more than 48 million tons, which is almost 25% higher than a year earlier. "This has allowed Russia to come out on top in the world in the production of beet sugar. We not only supplied the domestic needs but also significantly increased the export potential", — he said.

This year, Russia has exported 100 thousand tons of sugar is 9 times more than last year.

"We expect the season's export will reach 200 thousand tons. Expanding the geography of Russian export of our sugar began to buy in more than 50 countries of the world", — noted the Deputy Minister.

The Ministry of agriculture of Russia considers it important to maintain a balance in the sugar market. "We plan to develop the export of sugar, and products containing it. It's pastry, sugary drinks and other", — said Yevgeny Nepoklonov.
