According to the agricultural Committee of the island of Taiwan (COA) on March 31, the outbreak of avian flu was detected on 112 farms of the island, almost destroyed 1,035 million domestic birds.

Earlier it was reported that the government of Taiwan intends to produce its own vaccine against avian flu. According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the government of Taiwan (the Executive Yuan) Juan Csinchina, vaccine production must begin within six months.
