Sunqiao agricultural district is to provide food for a population of Shanghai – about 24 million people. According to the master plan architectural firm Sasaki, the complex will be located between the airport and the city centre. The project will be the laboratory for testing innovative methods of growing vegetables, fruits and herbs.

On an area of 100 hectares will build vertical farms – stacked greenhouses that allow for a short time to grow record crops, writes finance.ua. For example, the Belgian startup Urban farm Crops of 50 square meters are comparable in performance with 500 square meters of conventional agriculture, and the harvest appears 2-3 times faster than outdoors.
